Copper Birch (also known as #1 Copper Pipe) is among the highest grades of copper scrap available. It consists of clean, unalloyed copper tubing and pipe that is free of solder joints, paint, insulation, and fittings. Birch copper typically comes from plumbing and HVAC system replacements, refrigeration equipment, and industrial piping. Due to its high purity (99%+ copper), it commands prices very close to London Metal Exchange (LME) copper rates.
